A fabulous vintage musical powder compact by Clover, beautifully presented with its original box and protective pouch and appearing to have seen little, if any, use.
Measuring approximately 8.5 x 5.5cm, this substantial rectangular compact has a gorgeous genuine mother-of-pearl mosaic lid, formed from individually arranged iridescent pieces in a striking woven design. The shifting pearly tones catch the light beautifully against the warm gold-tone case.
Inside is a large bevelled mirror together with the original powder compartment, complete with its pretty pink Clover-branded puff and sifter. Beneath the powder section sits the integral musical movement, operated by the winding control inside the compact.
The musical mechanism is in full working order and plays clearly, although to my ear the melody plays a little faster than might be expected. This has therefore been mentioned for complete accuracy.
The compact itself presents beautifully and appears unused, with the original accessories still exceptionally clean. Complete with its original presentation box and pouch, it is a particularly lovely survivor.
