Vintage Kigu England Powder Compact, Blue Butterfly & Blossom Design, Gold Tone Enamel Compact, 1950s
A charming vintage powder compact by Kigu England, featuring a beautifully detailed butterfly and blossom design set against a soft cream enamel background. The vivid blue butterflies and delicate pink blossoms create a gentle, romantic scene, full of movement and mid-century elegance.
The compact has an attractive scalloped square shape, giving it a little more character than standard round designs, while the reverse is finished in a classic gold tone engine-turned pattern, catching the light with a subtle shimmer.
Inside, the compact opens to a clear mirror and retains its original sifter frame and powder pad. The interior is clean and well presented, with the gold tone finish still bright and reflective. The hinge and clasp are in good working order, closing securely with a satisfying snap.
Kigu were one of the most respected British compact makers of the mid-20th century, known for their quality construction and stylish designs, and this is a lovely example of their more decorative pieces.
Condition is very good vintage overall, with light surface wear consistent with age and careful use.
