Made in England, this vintage gold-tone compact carries the enamelled insignia of the Scots Guards, set at the centre of a richly textured geometric design.
Perhaps it was bought as a souvenir, perhaps given by somebody connected with the regiment; its individual story has been lost. What remains is a fascinating little meeting of two very different worlds — regimental tradition and the intimate ritual of a lady’s handbag.
