Vintage Stratton Convertible Powder Compact, Boxed Goldtone Leaf Design with Puff & Sifter, 1950s

This round Stratton Convertible powder compact has a warm gold-tone finish and measures 8cm in diameter. Its lid has a finely brushed ground engraved with a stylised leaf and stem design, while the reverse has a textured repeating star motif and is stamped “Stratton Made in England”.

The hinged lid opens to reveal the original mirror and a powder well fitted with its separate mesh sifter. The compact is unused, with an empty powder well, clean sifter and an unused pink Stratton-branded powder puff. A dark pouch is included, together with the original Stratton presentation box printed in gold with the maker’s name, an illustration of a compact and “Made in England”.

This is a likely 1950s example, based on its Convertible construction, Stratton branding and period presentation box. The gold-tone finish and engraved leaf decoration present very well. The mirror has foxing. The box has noticeable scuffs, creasing, rubbed edges and small losses to the paper covering. Please refer to the photographs, which form part of the condition description.
