A vintage Stratton powder compact featuring the Houses of Parliament and the River Thames, produced as part of the company’s London souvenir range.

Made in England and dating from approximately the 1950s to early 1960s, the cream enamel lid depicts the Palace of Westminster with boats on the Thames, framed by Stratton’s scalloped gold-tone case.

The compact measures approximately 7.5 cm diameter.

Inside is a clear bevelled mirror and original fitted powder interior, and the compact also retains its black Stratton protective pouch.

The enamelled scene remains crisp and colourful, the case presents very well and the interior is exceptionally clean.

Stratton produced a number of scenic and souvenir designs during the post-war period, reflecting the growth of tourism and the popularity of recognisably British subjects. The Houses of Parliament is particularly well suited to the format, creating a miniature London view within a genuinely functional British-made compact.
