Antique French Ormolu Jewellery Casket: Églomisé Le Havre Port Scene Trinket Box
Antique Grand Tour–era French ormolu jewellery casket featuring a reverse-painted glass (églomisé) lid titled “Le Havre – Centre du Port.”
The gilt-brass box stands on ornate paw feet with embossed floral scrollwork and retains its original red velvet lining.
A thick bevelled glass lid protects the harbour scene—classic Belle Époque souvenir quality with wonderful colour and depth.
Dating to circa 1880–1910, these petite caskets were sold as keepsakes in Paris and French port cities. This example displays beautifully on a dressing table or in a curio—perfect for rings, earrings, or a special token.
