Antique 19th Century French Napoleon III Egyptian Revival Gilt Ormolu & Bevelled Glass Vitrine Jewellery Casket

This exquisite jewellery casket is a striking example of the Egyptian Revival style, featuring exceptionally detailed hieroglyphic motifs that adorn the entire exterior. Inspired by the fascination with ancient Egypt that followed Napoleon’s campaigns (1798–1801), this piece reflects the era’s passion for incorporating exotic influences into decorative arts, furniture, and silverware.

The casket retains its original, opulent blue silk padded liner—though the sides show some wear consistent with age. The bevelled glass lid opens smoothly on a sturdy hinge and closes securely. Resting on four ornately designed bun feet, the casket measures 7cm in length, 5 cm in width, and 4.4 cm in height.

A rare and unique find, this casket stands out for its remarkable craftsmanship and decorative appeal.

This is truly one of the most beautiful French gilt ormolu caskets I have ever seen a truly wonderful piece for collectors and admirers of 19th-century decorative arts.
