Vintage Stratton Baron Pas de Quatre Ballet Powder Compact – Markova Danilova Krassovska Riabouchinska 8cm

A beautiful and highly collectable vintage Stratton powder compact from the celebrated Baron ballet series, featuring the four legendary ballerinas of Pas de Quatre: Alicia Markova, Alexandra Danilova, Natalie Krassovska and Tatiana Riabouchinska.

Measuring approximately 8cm in diameter, the compact has a gold-tone case with a wonderfully detailed silver-grey pictorial lid showing the four ballerinas in their romantic white costumes. The image carries the distinctive Baron signature at the lower edge.

Particularly lovely is the surviving original identification label inside the compact, naming all four dancers and Pas de Quatre — a wonderful piece of provenance that is often missing from surviving examples.

The reverse has an attractive concentric engine-turned design. Inside is a clear mirror, powder compartment and original fabric sifter. The compact opens and closes correctly and presents beautifully.

There is age-related wear to the gold-tone finish and some light signs of use consistent with a genuine vintage piece. The ballet image itself remains remarkably attractive, with excellent detail and soft colouring. Please study the photographs as these form an important part of the condition description.
