Vintage Coty Envelope Powder Compact Gold Tone Art Deco Vanity Case 1940s 1950s

A fabulous vintage Coty Envelope powder compact, an elegant and highly distinctive design dating from around the 1940s–1950s.

Measuring approximately 9 x 7 cm, the compact is styled as a miniature envelope, with finely textured gold-tone surfaces and a beautifully shaped envelope flap complete with decorative fastening detail.

Opening the envelope flap reveals the wonderfully clever multi-layered construction, with a large rectangular mirror and a further hinged compartment concealing the powder well beneath. The powder compartment is signed with the distinctive Coty script.

Remarkably, this example retains its original Coty powder puff, finished in warm golden-orange fabric with the Coty signature embroidered across the centre. Some original face powder also remains.

A particularly attractive example with a beautifully bright gold-tone finish. The mirror displays some minor age-related spotting shown in the photographs.
